Cumbrian Seafoods (Seaham)
Our new state of the art factory at the Foxcover Industrial Park, Seaham reflects our passion for fish and was born with our firmly held ambition to lead the industry in Quality and Value from an innovative catalogue of food-safe products responsibly and ethically sourced.
It was chosen after a thorough analysis of 19 sites lying between North Northumberland and South Yorkshire. As well as its proximity to our customers’ radial distribution centres it was attractive because of its access to a large pool of available and naturally talented workforce, willing to share our vision of developing a genuinely world leading seafood operation.
From the outset, both in the building and the fitting out of the factory we have worked hard to reduce our carbon footprint from practical measures, rather than subscribing to ‘offsets’. Winning planning permission for 2 wind turbines on the site has allowed us to reach a position where we will achieve energy neutrality in our first year of activity. We are also working hard with the five North East Universities and Seafish to promote ongoing savings as the business grows.
We are proud of being able to proclaim ourselves as being an environmentally conscious business, both in our ethical approach to harvesting our catch and our commitment to move as far as we can towards a leading position with regards to our carbon footprint.
Cumbrian Seafood Limited has shown that it is possible to be a thriving and efficient business, a team orientated employer and to have respect for the planet at one and the same time.
